In line with international practice, this ensures that communal wastewater treatment plants are built in the direct vicinity of residential areas, and industrial wastewater treatment plants are built in factories side-by-side with production units. All this offers significant savings potential. Our biotechnology features a high level of flexibility and toleration capacity which allows high level of automation. A minimum number of operating staff is needed (they can even be employed part-time).     Concept

    INWAFERM is an innovative digester type of attractively low investment and operational costs, yet allowing the application of the most versatile feedstock. Inwatech constructs flat type digesters facilitating the digestion of feedstock with very high thickness and organic content. Important parts of the INWAFERM concept are:

    • Cost-effective, low energy demand tank mixing and heating system, outstanding heat balance
    • Integrated biological biogas treatment for H2S removal with polishing step BIOGINWA
    • Integrated variable volume biogas buffer at the top of the reactor

    We apply proven, self-developed components including Inwatech’s state of the art control equipment which is easy to integrate into existing systems. Our past experience also covers all necessary equipment to treat and convert biogas into energy, in whatever form it is required (electricity, heat, bio methane, steam).     Water disinfection by chemicals is steadily losing its popularity due to the disinfectants being harmful to human health and the environment. Not even mentioning that in cases of industrial use, traditional methods are often ineffective. The unique h2o.TITANIUM® offers an effective, chemical-free, up-to-date water treatment solution. The equipment operating on the principle of photocatalysis (UV/TiO2) is suitable for the treatment of drinking, bathing and industrial (waste) water. With the use of h2o.TITANIUM®, the removal of microorganisms and pathogens is faster and more efficient than with any other known and industrially used oxidation technology.

    The use of h2o.TITANIUM® is a reasonable investment since the easy-to-operate, safe and environmentally friendly device has long life, low power consumption and does not require significant maintenance. Furthermore, the photocatalytic technology is available both on its own, and as part of the complex water management system. In special cases, such as an unforeseen microbiological water pollution, the operational leasing of the equipment is possible.

    Having two decades of professional experience, Eszes has taken part in the implementation of more than 50 wastewater treatment and biogas plants – from planning to operation and maintenance.

    Eszes took part in the operation of the regional water supply, sewerage and wastewater treatment systems of Lake Velence and Dunaújváros for eight years, as well as in the technical monitoring of their investments for six years. He has been taking part in the implementation and the test operation of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants since 1996, and in the design, construction and operation of biogas plants since 2007.

    Project Summary

    As the member of a four-member-consortium, Inwatech Ltd. has been awarded a national grant in the framework of the National Competitiveness and Excellence Programme, funded by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office. The main goal of the project is to design, engineer and test an innovative waste water treatment technology capable of removing organic micropollutants (e.g. pharmaceutical residues) from biologically treated waste water.

    Traditional aerobic/anaerobic biological treatment processes are in the majority insufficient for the removal of such organic micropollutants: the amount of prescription and over-the-counter medicines leaving waste water treatment plants after the biological treatment in almost unaltered form is quantifiable.

    The expected result of the planned development is an innovative fotooxidative waste water treatment technology in a mobile container. The output treated waste water will contains less organic micropollutants, significantly decreasing relevant negative environmental impacts, such as the negative influence on the hormone balance of wildlife, the occurrence of antibiotic resistant bacteria, perpetuance of certain micropollutants in drinking water, long term human health risks).

    Trial runs are currently undertaken at the Siófok WWTP.

    Summary

    The number of green energy investments has been shown a growing tendency both worldwide and in Hungary in the last decays. One important pillar of renewable energy utilization is biogas production which both in Hungary and Norway has come to the fore and become a supported investment as a green technology.

    Biogas technologies based on agricultural input or sewage water have an important but not (effectively) solved aspect: utilization of the by-product digestate on cultivable land meets several problems despite the digestate having an excellent composition for sustaining/increasing the multifunctionality of soils. For example, the high volume of liquid phase digestate results in difficulties at its agricultural disposition, generating relatively high costs; remarkable part of the valuable nutrients can be volatilized and degraded during the digestate treatment; the water soluble plant nutrients can leach into the deeper soil layers thus hampering the nutrient utilization of plants.

    The main goal of this project is to solve the above mentioned problems in the frame of international R&D cooperation on the field of waste management. The result of the project will be a product prepared from biogas digestate, a non-hazardous waste for sustaining/increasing the multifunctionality of soils and the nutrient supply of plants. The raw materials used for product preparation will be bentonite rock as a mineral and biogas digestate as an organic matter.

    Project summary

    One of the most important and unavoidable of today’s society of the production of drinking water and the treatment of the technological, industrial and other waters in general, is the proper disinfection of water, and the effective removal of organic pollutants if needed.

    Our international consortium aimed to develop a new, chemical-free, safe-to-operate, environmentally friendly and cost effective photocatalytic device, that outperforms the oxidation water treatment technologies available on the market in terms of efficiency and application specificity, while eliminating their typical disadvantages.

    The prototype from the project is able to remove the various microorganisms and pathogens, as well as organic pollutants from water and wastewater faster and more efficient than the currently industrially used oxidation technologies. Due to the unique design of the prototype, the oxidation processes can be modified and adapted to different (waste) waters of different industries. To the best of the project partners’ knowledge, similar water purification technology is currently not available on the market.

    The developed prototype is equipped with an innovative module,with catalyst material applied to a solid support surface, which is easy to replace, either for maintenance or adaptation to new technology. During the project two variants of the equipment were made in the structure and material of the catalytic module, one of which was tested in Hungary and one in Germany, then tested in the semi-industrial sector. Various attempts have been made to disinfect the equipment, test the oxidation of the model contaminant, and for the treatment of waste water from the food and pharmaceutical industries. Tests have shown positive results with regard to oxidation and disinfection of organic pollutants in industrial waste water. Studies have shown that the device is extremely effective in eliminating various pathogens even after a few seconds of irradiation.
